Clayton Youth Enrichment is a nonprofit, community-based organization in east Fort Worth.  Our 42 year organization is dedicated to enriching the lives of families in North Texas by providing fun after-school and full-day childcare programs that give kids the opportunity to go beyond school day learning.

Position Summary:

The Accounting Specialist, under the supervision of the Director of Finance, performs data entry, all aspects of accounts payables and receivables, monthly grant billings, account analysis and reconciliations, and duties related to month end closing.

This person must be able to

  • Review and perform accounting entries
  • Perform invoicing and posting of charges in the billing system, ensuring that all billing functions are completed within prescribed time frames and assure that information entered into the system is accurate and complete
  • Perform the processing and recording of accounts payable transactions and ensure that all invoices and reimbursements are paid accurately
  • Analyze and review expenditures for compliance with the approved grants, and coordinate the correction and adjustment of accounting entries
  • Perform grant billings and drawdown funds within the required timeframe
  • Manage and reconcile corporate credit card accounts, ensuring timely entry of all receipts and reconciliations of credit card statements
  • Perform bank runs
  • Produce and disseminate accurate department grant and expenditure reports
  • Manage the processing of cash receipts and recordings of revenue and receivables
  • Perform general account analysis and reconciliations
  • Perform journal entries
  • Perform monthly and ad hoc account reconciliations and reports
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports and statements
  • Automate and streamline processes to enhance accuracy of data while minimizing manual efforts
  • Adhere to strict accounting deadlines
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the financial system
  • Act as liaison between accounting and program staff to insure all receipts and expenditures are submitted accurately and in a timely manner
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience working with project accounting, grant reporting and accounts payables and receivables
  • Accounting degree or certification preferred
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast paced, regulated environment
  • Intermediate to advanced excel skills (including ability to use and develop spreadsheets using sumif(s), countif(s), pivots, index match, offset, and more)
  • Knowledge of nonprofit accounting
  • Experience with QuickBooks
  • Successful completion of background checks
