For over 30 years, Prism Health North Texas (PHNTX) has provided support and treatment for people living with HIV in North Texas. We are seeking to hire an energized and enthusiastic Behavioral Health Counselor (II) to practice as a key member of the PHNTX integrated HIV medical and behavioral health care team. The Behavioral Health Counselor identifies, triages, and manages patients with mental health and /or substance misuse disorders. S/he also provides mental health/substance use disorder/high-risk behavior assessments, individual/ group therapy and crisis intervention.Requirements: The applicant must demonstrate a working knowledge of psychosocial complexities of HIV and co-occurring mental health and substance misuse disorders; evidence based treatment modalities; HIV and psychiatric medications. The applicant must be able to work independently to conduct individual and group psychotherapy sessions. S/he must be able to work in a positive and empathic manner with persons living with HIV and to work effectively with medical and other service providers. The position requires a master’s degree in social work or related field or Ph.D. in psychology. The applicant must have current state licensure and be in good standing as a licensed clinical social worker, licensed professional counselor, or licensed clinical psychologist. The candidate will be required to use his/her own vehicle for transportation between PHNTX facilities. Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
