The June Shelton School and Evaluation Center, located in Dallas, Texas, has announced its search for a Director of Capital Campaign and Major Gifts to begin as soon as possible. Founded in 1976, Shelton is a private, non-profit, non-denominational, co-ed school serving intelligent students with learning differences (LD) in grades EC through 12. While the school is clearly the centerpiece of its mission, Shelton is more than a school. It encompasses three other major components, open to the community—a speech and language therapy program, an evaluation center, and a teacher-training program. The School is accredited through Independent Schools Association of the Southwest, American Montessori Society, and International Multisensory Structured Language Council. Shelton has membership in a number of professional organizations and collaborates with major medical institutions in the Dallas area, including Children’s Medical Center and UT Southwestern Medical Center. Shelton is recognized worldwide as the leading educational institution for learning differences.
As a key member of the Development Office, the Director of Capital Campaign and Major Gifts will develop, manage and coordinate various campaign activities and work to further enhance programs that build a strong culture of philanthropy throughout the community. The successful candidate will help develop new community relationships and strengthen existing ones, build visibility, and cultivate leading external alliances for philanthropic support. The Director of Capital Campaign and Major Gifts will work closely with the Director of Development to ensure project and goal alignment.
Professional fundraising experience, strong communication skills, and a temperament that is attentive, persistent, and suited to serving people’s needs are imperative for the new Director of Capital Campaign and Major Gifts. It is also essential that s/he be wholeheartedly supportive of families who have children with learning differences. Click on the below link to view full job description.
