Description

Employment Coach (Full-time)

The Wesley Mission Center (WMC) is committed to supporting Mansfield ISD residents experiencing

financial crisis, and working with them towards long-term financial stability. We do this through the

organizational delivery of integrated or wrap-around services to clients in three key areas: employment,

income supports, and financial services. Reporting to the Director of Programs, this role is primarily

responsible for providing comprehensive employment services to Mansfield ISD residents with the goal

of attaining long-term financial stability. The following is a list of related job tasks, however, others may

be assigned as needed:

Employment Coaching (60%)

● Partner one-on-one with unemployed/underemployed participants to develop a client-driven

action plan leading to employment paying a livable wage

● Immediately assess and address any obstacles to participant gaining employment or completing

training/certification (lack of childcare, transportation, education, work skills, etc.).

● Conduct career assessments to help participants discover their natural strengths and abilities

and how these can translate into the workplace

● Provide employment coaching to educate participants on high demand career opportunities

matching their career goals; make referrals to and help clients connect with appropriate training

and/or certification programs as needed

● Provide one-on-one or group career coaching to participants such as: resume development, job

search strategies, interviewing skills, or mock interviews.

● Seek out and utilize resources to help “special populations” obtain employment (criminal

background, disability, etc.)

● Offer employment retention support for up to 1 year to participants reaching employment goals

● Engage all newly employed/promoted participants in financial coaching

● Collaborate with empowerment coaches to ensure participants’ progress toward career goals

● Assist Program Director in developing employer partnerships aimed at providing targeted job

opportunities for program participants

● Assist Program Director in developing partnerships with agencies offering certifications/trainings

aligned with program participants’ employment goals

● Collaborate with Social Enterprise and Program Directors to develop and implement internship

and job skills training opportunities for participants utilizing WMC based social enterprises

● Help to develop, coordinate, and lead employment workshops and/or employment program

orientations independently or in conjunction with Wesley Mission Center partner agencies

● Under the Working Family Success (WFS) model provide wrap-around client services that may

include other Wesley Mission Center programs and/or referrals to community programs for

income supports, housing, benefit-supports, and mental/physical health services

● Manage daily/weekly schedule to meet program and/or grant requirement outcomes

● Participate in required trainings and ongoing professional development

Financial Coaching (15%)

● Provide financial coaching to participants in group and/or one-on-one settings

● Collaborate with program participants in identifying and achieving their financial and life goals

● Be highly motivated to assist low to moderate income families and individuals change behaviors

to become financially empowered and begin to build assets

● Build rapport with mission center clients

● Using the Change Machine platform as a coaching tool, develop action plans to assist clients

with their specific financial goals related to: credit improvement, expense and debt reduction,

budgeting, increasing income, increasing savings, asset accumulation or

education/certifications.

Resource Coaching and Crisis Care (15%)

● Create and maintain a database of community resource providers capable of meeting

participants’ needs as they successfully move through their employment action plan (housing,

transportation, childcare, etc.)

Assist participants in utilizing community resources to remove barriers to employment goals

Provide follow-up coaching, additional support, and financial assistance through

applicable programs (ex: Food Pantry, Emergency Assistance) as needed

Metrics Tracking and Reporting (10%)

Document attendance and outcomes for all one-on-one sessions, workshops, and education

classes, using agency specific database

Compile and submit monthly metric reports to Program Director in accurate and timely manner.

Utilize company designated software such as Change Machine, or ETO to track client outcomes.

The ideal candidate should possess the following professional qualifications and personal attributes:

Confidence and enthusiasm when communicating with both external and internal stakeholders

Passion for advocating on behalf of marginalized, high needs and low-income clients

Enthusiastic approach to work, including the humility and grace to work effectively with others

in a collaborative workplace

High degree of professionalism and ability to uphold participant confidentiality

Possess a high level of energy; is self-motivated

Excellent verbal and written skills

Ability to work some evenings and weekends

Attention to detail

Strong personal boundaries

Strong computer skills including experience with Google and/or MS Office Suites

Demonstrate the ability to articulate and promote the WMC’s mission, vision and values

Education & Experience:

● Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college, preferably in the area of Business Administration,

Social Work, Education, or a related field

3+ years relevant work experience in workforce development and/or employment coaching

Knowledgeable in credit building/repair, predatory lending, debt reduction, and money

management practices

Demonstrated ability to serve the community and coach clients in new ideas and behaviors

Prior experience in one or more of the following capacities: social worker, case manager,

financial coach, or delivery of financial education curriculum

Prior demonstrated ability to collaborate with various community agencies to meet program

outcomes (ex: non-profits, colleges/universities, churches, governmental agencies, businesses)

Experience working with Change Machine Platform a plus

Experience with the Working Family Success (WFS) Model a plus

Experience working in a non-profit environment preferred

Bilingual preferred (Spanish)

Master’s degree preferred
